Hilda Bronstein trained as a singer at the Royal College of Music and spoke Yiddish from an early age. Three years ago she retired from an academic career as a lecturer in English Literature to return to her first love – as a singer of Yiddish song. She has performed at a number of venues in and around London and has also attracted much interest in the Yiddish language through talks on her return to Yiddish, which she illustrates in song. She is in the process of making her first CD of Yiddish songs and is currently the Director of the Jewish Song School which runs weekly from October to March under the auspices of the Jewish Music Institute.
