Clarinetist Moran Katz has toured extensively through the U.S., Europe and East Asia as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. Her engagements for the 2004-5 season included performances in France, Germany, Holland, Israel, North Carolina, California, Washington D.C. and New York's Bargemusic, Miller Theater, Merkin Hall and Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall.
Among other orchestras, she has been a featured soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta, the Israel Sinfonietta and the Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble. She performed in Geneva (UN Hall), Belgium (Palais des Beaux-Arts in Charleroi), France (Invalides in Paris, Palais des Fetes in Strasburg and Dunkerque Theatre), Kyrgyzstan (Biskek Philharmonia Hall) and New York (Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and Paul Hall).
Very active in the contemporary music scene, Ms. Katz was twice a soloist with the New Juilliard Ensemble, as part of the FOCUS! 2005 and 2006 Festivals. She often collaborates with the internationally acclaimed new music ensemble "Continuum" and performs at the Lincoln Center Festival and at the MoMA Summergarden Series. She has premiered pieces by Mario Davidovsky, Guus Jannsen, Zvi Avni, Jonathan Keren and many more.She is also a founding member of "Clarinet Gang", a Jazz and Klezmer band, which frequently tours in Europe.
Ms. Katz is the winner of numerous prizes and awards, such as the prestigious 2006 Francois Schapira First Prize for Woodwinds at the Aviv Competitions, the 2004 Artists International's Young Artist Chamber Music Award (as a member of the "Nesher Trio"); First Prize at the 2004 Lions Clarinet Competition; Second Prize in the Lions European Musical Prize 2004 for Clarinet in Rome; the 2003 Juilliard Nielsen Concerto Competition; the
2001 Brown-Roger-Ziegl Woodwind Competition in Jerusalem; and the 2002 "Thelma Yellin" prize for excellence in Music and Clarinet Performance. She is also the recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation grant with distinction since 1999.
Ms. Katz is currently studying with Mr. Charles Neidich at The Juilliard School, New York, where she was admitted with presidential distinction and a full scholarship. She participates in festivals in Israel, Hungary, Belgium, California, Vermont and Florida and has recorded many times for radio and television. Previous teachers include Mr. Richard Lesser and Mrs. Eva Wasserman.
