The extraordinary story of Jews in large numbers volunteering to join the struggle against Fascism during the 1930’s Spanish Civil War, in film, music, lecture and memoirs. The Spanish Civil War had and has an impact far beyond the boundaries of Spain and the 72 years since. Jews in large numbers joined the fight from different countries including Palestine and Britain. Franco, supported by Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy was met with resistance fighters from all over the world amongst whom were many Jews who wished to defeat Fascism. The main speaker will be Dr Richard Baxell. “Jewish brigaders” who fought in Spain will be present.
