During an attack of Palestinian militants on an Israeli army post on the Israeli side of the southern Gaza Strip border on the morning of the 25th of June, 2006, Gilad Schalit, a young Israeli soldier, was captured and has been held hostage by Hamas ever since. Despite negotiations and talks during the past two years, Gilad has yet to come back home.
Following personal contact and the blessing of the Schalit family, a march through the centre of London is currently being organized under the title of “Walking for Gilad”. This march will be held on the 21st of September, in a peaceful and solemn manner with each participant wearing a shirt with a photo of Gilad Schalit. At the final arrival point, a special event will be held, with various high profile speakers and guests, including the Schalit family.
